Reactors

Unitrafo can provide Class F or H, Dry Insulated, Cast Resin Insulated and Oil Insulated reactors and indoor and outdoor versions up to 5000 A/52 kV. For outdoor applications we can also offer cast resin insulated reactors without enclosure, thanks to our specially formulated resin and UV-resistant coating.

Current limiting reactors

Current limiting reactors, as the name implies, are used to limit the short-circuit current in the downstream network. A common application is to limit the short-circuit current so that it does not exceed the permissible limit of the protection in a plant.

Neutral transformers - Earthing transformers

A zero point former is used to create a physical zero point in a 3-phase system, for example to a main transformer with a d-coupling on the down side. The neutral is then used for direct earthing, resistance earthing or resonance earthing. A traditional neutral is ZNyn-coupled, but can also be offered with YNd-coupling, a so-called open design.

A neutral transformer with an additional winding for local power is called a grounding transformer and can also be used as a local transformer.

Filter reactors

1-phase or 3-phase reactors used to reduce harmonics in the grid or in installations with high voltage distortion. The reactors are connected in series or parallel to the capacitors on both the high and low voltage sides.

Shunt reactors

Shunt reactors are mainly used in long transmission lines with high voltages. The task of a shunt reactor is to help keep the voltage in the power grid at the correct level during periods of the day when consumption is low.

Smoothing reactors

Used as smoothing reactors in DC systems, where it is necessary to reduce superimposed harmonic components (ripple). This reactor is connected in series with a rectifier and the entire load current flows through it. The task of the reactor is to provide high impedance for harmonic currents, reducing their strength and thus smoothing the DC current.

Phase compensation reactors

Reactors connected in series with the capacitors, they reduce the harmonic content to a level that is not harmful to the capacitors.
