About Unitrafo - History & Future

Unitrafo was founded in 1989 as a sales company in the Mora Transformer group, which then had production in both Sweden and Germany. In 1992, Unitrafo was bought out from Mora Transformer and became an independent company. In the same year, the business was also moved to Askim outside Gothenburg, a place we have been faithful to ever since.

We work primarily with environmentally friendly transformers and products for safe electrical power and improved electrical environment. We do not have our own production, but our business is based on close cooperation with several leading manufacturers in Europe. Most of our manufacturing takes place in northern Italy, where our main factory is located, GBE is located. They manufacture everything from transformers for low voltage to larger power transformers and reactors. Other partners include: Tramo ETV (Sweden),  Ganz Transzformátor (Hungary), Meth (Italy), Trafox (Finland) and Frer (Italy).

Our customers include most of the major automotive, steel, paper and mining industries in Sweden. In addition, power and network companies such as Vattenfall, E.on, Fortum, Göteborg Energi and Öresundskraft. Holtab, which manufactures substations and builds low-voltage switchgear, is another very important customer for us. The list of contractors is long, but ABB, Siemens, Eitech, Midroc, Assemblin and Caverion are all regular customers. Finally, we would also like to mention switchgear manufacturers, cabinet builders and installers, where many of the customers we have worked with for the longest time can be found.

We operate in an industry that is growing rapidly. The networks of the future must be adapted to the challenges ahead. Renewable electricity, new roads and railways, new housing and upgrading of transmission and distribution networks will keep the pot boiling for many years to come.

We believe that a varied future suits a small, flexible company with large resources perfectly. Unitrafo is thus ready to develop and evolve at the pace the future electricity environment requires and we therefore look forward to many rewarding and interesting years ahead.

Since 2002 we are certified according to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. We are also approved suppliers according to Achilles Utilities NCE - the Nordic prequalification system to which most leading energy companies are affiliated - and TransQa prequalification system for the Scandinavian transport industry, which includes the Swedish Transport Administration.
