Filter chokes

Chokes as a solution to the problem of interference and harmonics

Fluctuating power quality, such as disturbances and harmonics, are major problems in today's electrical systems. These disturbances are often caused by non-linear loads, but also by phase compensation and the switching on and off of large loads.

Non-linear loads include, for example, frequency-controlled motor drives, soft starters, frequency converters, welding equipment, fluorescent luminaires, UPSs and all equipment with switched-mode power supplies (e.g. computers). When switching large loads on and off, there are often voltage peaks and drops that can be harmful to sensitive equipment.

Harmonics also cause a host of other problems: motor damage and overheating of cables and transformers. To protect against the above, you need something that effectively mitigates mains interference.

Filter chokes

In many cases, a filter choke can be the solution. Filter chokes are primarily used to attenuate harmonics, but also to attenuate current spikes from the mains and limit inrush currents. In addition, filter chokes are a very cost-effective alternative to high-end electronic filters.

Chokes and reactors - other

The number of applications for chokes and reactors is so large that it is basically you as a customer who decides how the products should be designed. For our supplier Tramo ETV most of their products are customized according to customer requirements. All manufacturing takes place in their factory in Eslöv, Skåne - with high quality in both materials and manufacturing methods.
